Color Trends for 2020 & 2021: Part 2
In our previous post, we discussed color trends with base note colors, classic neutrals, and the ever-expanding pink palette. For this post, I’m talking about some of the more out-of-the-box color trends as well as interior design color schemes that earth tone lovers will adore.
If there’s one thing that 2020 has taught us, it’s that home is a sacred place to be. Creating a space that speaks to your heart and soul is more important than ever, and color is a great place to start! Let’s start with some of the bolder choices on the interior design color trend scene: gold and teal.
Goldenrod, Gold’s Chic Sister
When I was at The Maison & Objet Show in Paris a few years ago, I remember seeing one tiny whisper of goldenrod in the designs and hoping that it would catch in the US. Sure enough, three years later, it began appearing in interior design color schemes! It looks fab in black and white spaces, giving them an elevated look that doesn’t have the dated feel that a shinier gold may have. It’s simply gorgeous with gray and navy, too!
A Bold Choice for Green Lovers
If you love bold colors, then teal is one that you shouldn’t pass up. I love the effervescent feel that teal gives a room, and in any design style. In boho spaces alone, mixing teals, golds, and pinks together creates true vibrancy. Teal is very on-trend at the moment. Like navy, it has some staying power when done right.
Seaside Tranquility
Shifting gears a bit, let’s talk about the trend report colors that evoke the natural world.
We’re such a connected society that sometimes we genuinely crave being in nature. Embracing the colors of the soft sea and light sand bring a sense of calm to our interiors. Mix in a grounding of forest green or use a few accents in teal, and you’ve got a color palette perfect for those quiet moments we all need. I adore the combination of sand and sea glass green – it’s fresh and utterly timeless. The trend palette remains important.
Earth Tones, A Classic Choice
Earth tone lovers, you know who you are! You’re the one who looks through teals, pinks, and goldenrod and can’t imagine living with such a color palette. With earth tones, we’re seeing the shades turned down a bit to create a wash of soft neutrals. This approach is exceptionally lovely in homes with a lush wooded lot, where the views into nature can truly shine.
Remember, no trend is more important than you! I hope these trends inspire your own design choices and give you some new ideas. If you’re just lost, though, contact us today. We’re here to help!
